Apparently one of Sweet Occasion’s former owners, Andy Singer, is at it again. After losing a lease in Wicker Park, Andy Singer’s new venture, Sweet Thang, reopened in Roscoe Village offering cakes, pastries and a Chocolate Shoppe ice cream counter – all offerings that were available at Sweet Occasions. Not to break tradition, Sweet Thang apparently also featured bouncing paychecks, and Singer has since closed again. The (former) employees, however, have decided enough is enough and plan to fight back by holding a protest in front of the store and the owner’s home demanding their paychecks. Check out this article by a fellow blogger, which also includes a press release about the protest & press conference here.
