The Burger Stop (5318 N Broadway) recently opened up in the strip mall on the northwest corner of Berwyn and Broadway.  This space has turned over multiple times from a hot dog stand to most recently Pita Pita, so we hope these guys work out the new business kinks are here to stay.  Our correspondent Christopher recently had a chance to check it out, and here is what he thought:

Upon arriving I was greeted by a rather confused gal who, while sweet and polite, wasn’t able to fulfill a simple request that I asked for – which was simply that I wanted one patty verses two patties.  With the response of “oh I don’t think we can do that” I let it slide, especially since I didn’t really have time to argue and I understand that this is a new establishment and they are still learning.

With that being said, I completed my order (was over charged) and proceeded to my table. While waiting for what seemed like forever, I examined my surroundings and made some mental notes to myself… the biggest of which would have been, what burger joint doesn’t have a fountain soda machine?!

Finally my food arrived after a 15 to 20 minute wait, which was a bit unacceptable given the fact that I was the ONLY guest in the restaurant. Though it wasn’t the best burger I have ever had, it certainly was decent and “The Burger Stop” has won a second round of patriotism from me… let’s just hope that they have worked out all their kinks by that time and for goodness sake, invest in a Coke or Pepsi fountain machine!

More to come after Round 2…

My pleasure. As I stated, don’t be expecting too much… the food is decent, but the service and atmosphere need some work. Enjoy!

    Spoken like a true patriot.

I don ‘t expect much.  It sounds like the same type thing that was previously in that space.

Actually it is quite different… it’s more of a “Five-Guys” place. The prior place had a much broader variety of menu items where this place pretty much sticks to burgers and hot dogs. To be quiet honest, as sketchy as the old place was, I do miss it… it was one of the neighborhood “greasy spoons” that one could go to if one needed some after bar food or just needed a late bite. But so is a sign of the times. Cheers!
