I saw three coyotes running through the cemetery by Irving last night around 5 p.m. Was riding the Red Line and looked out and saw them running right through the graveyard.

There are coyotes living in a lot of the cemeteries around town. I see them regularly in the cemetery in south Evanston by the lake. This poor guy is probably looking for a suitable place to call home…

Do you think they will eat the other vermin in the neighborhood like the racoons, squirrels and opposums?

Might be. There was a den of foxes in Berger Park and they cleared out all the rats. Cleanest summer we ever had.

I agree, some specifics as to location/time he was spotted would be helpful. Lakewood Balmoral is pretty non-specific.
I feel bad for urban wildlife that is (in most cases) unfairly vilified. They’ve been here longer than us and try their darndest to avoid humans and just try to survive. If they help people realize that their cats shouldn’t be let out (which is insane in an urban area such as ours) or their dogs should be leashed or supervised at all times outside, or their garbage cans should be shut and in good repair, all the better. This guy probably got pushed out of his cemetery/territory and will soon find another area full of rodents to clear out. We should let them be.
