Why doesn’t Trader Joe’s want to be on this part of Broadway? There’s a lot of demand. We’d love it if they were here.

I’d love to see Trader Joe’s in Edgewater or Rogers Park too, but since they are opening a store now in Evanston very soon (one block north of the South Evanston Whole Foods), I guess it’s no surprise they’re not rushing in anywhere nearby. But I agree, I think the demand would be HUGE in Edgewater.

Such a shame considering the traffic they’d get. And it would hopefully drive another reputable business to take over the beautiful vacant space on the NW corner of Foster/Broadway.

This is really depressing, Chody are slumlords and we can now look forward to another depressing strip mall…adjacent to public transportation no less. It’s a shame Lakewood Balmoral NIMBYs had so much power in killing the original proposal for this site.

I agree. Their current strip mall is an eyesore. Now we will have it on both sides of the street.

What a shame. So far Osterman has done a good job on business development but this owner could set Edgewater back. This is prime property and should have a Class A developer. Every time we walk past this future dump we can thank LBRC for crapping up Broadway. Maybe if we withhold TIF funds he will pull out?

Trader Joe’s grows their company slowly and deliberately. They like a lot of space between locations. I doubt that they will ever come. I’d rather see an independent quality grocer anyway. Or more I’d like a 24 hour Kinkos. A lot of local people have home based businesses and have to go down to Southport for oversized printing and other needs.

Why are they building retail with all the empty storefronts in their other strip mall?
