I guess not. Good riddens to Homemade Pizza Co; evidently they committed wage theft long ago .

I knew from personal experience at the Boystown location that you had to know someone that knew someone that worked there to actually get served. I never even considered this location. I can make my own instant pizza. Hopefully a lesson has been learned.

The pizza was good, but it was insanely expensive (for a large pizza for $36 once), and there was no management. I lived across the street and would go over there often, and there was often only one person working there.

Other experiences include:
-never getting a phone order correct
-having managers and employees cursing and storming out
-placing an order, then have the person say they forgot what you said and asking me to repeating it
-closure due to them forgetting to transfer the gas
-closure for the AC and ovens not working (repeatedly)
-none of my orders were ever on time (on 2 occasions I went over to pick it up, and they hadn’t started)
-people not picking up the phone after 3 or 4 calls (during normal hours)
-the phone number not working
-untrained and aloof employees

They just didn’t know what they were doing, obviously, and in the end it was a failure. Sad but true.

But the license was revoked because of back sales taxes being owed. They were most likely not pulling in enough money. Last year the home delivery/take-out pizza business fell significantly according to the Tribune and this has caused larger chains like Sbarro to file for bankruptcy and smaller ones to close like Homemade and Pie Hole. In a saturated market usually the weaker ones fall off and the stronger one survive like Pizzeria Aroma who has great pizza and good marketing. I am no economist, but it seems to make sense.

Sounds like there were some internal issues going on.

Calling ahead wasn’t much better, since I showed up once and the person who took my order had completely forgotten to prepare my slices. On the plus side, the pizza was really good. It’s a shame they couldn’t make it work.

I can understand why the Clark location was closing. I went there with a friend on a friday evening, and we were the only two customers there! The place was dead! I suppose that the location at 5001 N Clark is not that great too. It is way south of most of the good parts of Andersonville.
