I only hope someone has done a study to confirm the root cause of the problem is only the lack of pedestrian signals.

I wonder how long this intersection has been an issue vs. Balmoral and Broadway. We’ve been lobbying for the Balmoral/Broadway signal for several years. This is the first I’ve heard of the Clark and Balmoral being an issue. Just asking.

i think it is an andersonville vs edgwater issue to be honest. Who cares about a couple of children of color when yuppie moms with tandem strollers are trying to get to the Galleria without getting hit by a lexus.

From personal experience, the Clark/Balmoral intersection is in dire need of pedestrian signals—-I have attempted to cross the street there and have always had to do so aggressively.

I think the term your looking for is sensationalism, you might want to look it up. As far as personal experience, I walk as well so congrats on the valid counterpoint. I also walk and drive through both intersections.

How many reports on this blog alone about someone getting hit on broadway? I’ve never had to agressively walk through the intersection given that I look at a colored light showing green for cross traffic, that means don’t go by the way.

i felt that the sarcasm was to point out the absurdity of the situation. People getting upset about and and defending one of the nicest corners in our ward is pretty funny and does little but point out the sense of entitlement people have about it.

I never understood why there were not pedestrian signals at Clark/Balmoral when they redid the lights/street a few years ago.

  • Jon

Do I understand this correctly. There are street light but no pedestrian signals and this made it too difficult to cross the street for some people? Seems odd.

I think the lack of pedestrian signals is a big part of the problem. If you stand at the intersection you will see how many pedestrians are oblivious to the lights and oncoming cars. I think the fact the intersection is very busy with pedestrians plus Balmoral is a rather narrow street leads to additional

Ok, got it. People probably assume the cars driving towards clark on balmoral will stop because they don’t notice the light.
