Thank God…that whole shopping center is disgusting and horrible, the Walgreens is so outdated…this is just the first step towards reclaiming Broadway from the scumbags and bangers and turning it into another great, diverse neighborhood.

  • I know a number of the staff, and this Walgreens really needs to be redone. I for one can’t wait to see it when it is finished. The staff are getting moved to other stores

  • Hancock Fabrics coulda made an awfully nice Starbucks….(sigh).

This is awesome, so glad they are thinking to do this, with the library across the street this will make Broadway more and more attractive, which can attract new businesses. Too bad the fabric store doesn’t want to come to the 21st century and be on board with improving Edgewater. They are gonna stick out like a sore thumb when everything gets renovated around them.

i don’t think our neighborhood needs a starbucks. the hancock fabrics is fine. people, including myself use it all the time. perhaps just a renovation of their storefront is all they need.

That’s exactly what I think too-who says let’s get rid of it? Just spruce it up a bit. And who says we want another Starbucks-and not another thrift store please! Local businesses such as Lickety Split is what needed on Broadway. Look at Andersonville, they have a lot of new businesses and looks great, and let’s not forget Granville by the Redline.

  • I’m glad this is happening. That was one beat-down Walgreens, and it’s been that way for years.

So Relieved that Hancock Fabrics is staying!

The community had a chance to get the entire site redeveloped and now get’s one building. That doesn’t sound like a win at all. The Alderman should have nicely told those people to f-off and push forward.

Good for Walgreens, and good for Hancock.

Well thankfully this Walgreens will no longer be in such deplorable condition,

Glad to see Hancock staying. I know you hipsters prefer overpriced thrift stores and coffee shops, but some of us

I too am glad that Hancock is staying. I just wish they would have a more community friendly space. Perhaps something in there where people could learn to sew? A community craft making space?
