  It happened right across the street from my place. I was near the window and heard 7 quick shots. I saw two guys running south on Kenmore (west sidewalk) from Balmoral. The guy who was shot fell in front of an apartment complex and just laid there. Police were quick to show up. I didn’t see the car or shooter on Balmoral.

  The shooting happened at 1:15pm or so – not 2pm.

  I’ve lived a block away for over 7 years. After the problem building at 5411 N. Winthrop was shuttered and the Chicago Police did a sting operation that broke up a drug ring that operated in and around that building, it got quieter around here for years. Then in the last year or two we’ve had the gang related shootings near the Berwyn L station. My fear has always been that the gang activity near Thorndale would migrate South and the activity in Uptown would move North of Foster and we’d be caught in the cross-fire of rival gangs. This is what has turned parts of Uptown into a shooting range.

  Well thank God this isn’t 95 degrees in August. Just imagine how much worse it could have been! Whew!
  Anyway, let’s not dwell on the negative. Let’s just meet for a craft mimosa, organic turkey leg and cinnamon bun and wait for this to all blow over.

  This is getting ridiculous…I work in Uptown and there are shootings every other week there and now this is the second shooting here within a block…what’s this neighborhood going to look like when it starts getting warm?
