Booze at the Beach

One of the greatest assetts of our neighborhood lies due east – our proximity to Lake Michigan and the beaches and parks that come with it.

    So long as people know and understand the rules of the beach and behave themselves, I wouldn’t be opposed to turning my head the other way. In addition, it would be smart to keep beverages of the alcoholic nature cleverly disguised and/or concealed.

    Bottom line… so long as people do not get out of hand, rude, reasonless and belligerent – go for it! (Just remember, given the extreme heat, make sure to drink plenty of water as well to avoid dehydration)

    There are punks walking along Halsted St. daily (and nightly) with 40’s in paper bags.

    As long as people are cool about it, I don’t see the problem. I am noticing a lot more trash on the beach/park. Yes, it’s cool to hang out with your friends and drink but don’t litter. Not cool.

    I enjoyed a couple cold Goose Islands last night at Osterman and watched the storm clouds roll by.

    Of all the crimes in the world, having a beer at the beach is pretty insignificant.

    I’d say permitted on grassy areas would be a nice compromise, if on the beach poses a problem.
